I am so
excited!! In just five days I am going on the Dee Gruenig Alaskan Stamping
Cruise!!! We leave from Seattle WA on Celebrity Cruise Lines with Sandi
Genevese, host of DIY, Cheryl Darrow, creator and owner of Ten Seconds Studio, and
of course Dee!! I’m going with my
sister-in-law Terry, and my dear friend Marge, the ‘one’ who introduced me to
stamping! These are two my favorite
stampin’ sisters! We are going to have sooooooo
much fun! I’ll share pictures!
In
the spirit of the coming fall and all the fruit that comes with it, I made this
card. Fresh fruit is so appealing when it’s bright and vibrant. It’s always looks better in the grocery store
ad paper, than it does in the store. :o)
This is what I did to make this card:
1.
Inked
up Dee’s apple and pear outline stamps and stamped on scrap CS.
2.
Colored in the fruit with Copic Markers. I colored the
steam with a brown artist pen. I colored outside the black stamped image so it
would show up more. I then cut out the
fruit, added the highlight, and set aside to dry.
TIP: Highlights can be bold or
itty bitty for a touch of light. You can
add highlight after you add color, or leave white space. You need to decide
this at the beginning. Since this is bold big fruit, I used a bold big
highlight. The great thing about art is you can make how you like it! If you’re
not sure what you want, start with an itty bitty highlight and see how that
works for you. If it’s not working for you, add more white paint! Remember, it’s
easier to add more…
3.
It’s hard to see in the picture. I stamped the
solid apple image with VersaMark on the red CS.
Next time I think I will emboss it with clear EP to make it show up
better – in the picture AND on the card.
4.
I colored the solid pear and stamped the folded
card background. I also stamped my
envelop while I had my pear image already inky. I stamped the envelop two
times, each time with full color, but I offset the image the second time with a
darker green. I stamped the outline
image over it to give some contrast and definition.
5.
I cut the corners of the red CS and assembled the card,
adding my brads to the top two layers only…don’t want those little brad legs
showing on the inside of your card. UNLESS, that’s the look you’re going for –
you could make some design on the inside using those little legs [a le boo boo
turned into a new technique! – ask me how I know…. ;o)]. It’s your art work!!!
6.
I like to stamp the images on the CS where I will
put my cut out pieces. I also like to go beyond the border sometimes – this is
a beyond the border kinda design.
