Continuing on my journey...I added a design element to the cover and created background pages. I plan to fill these pages with faces and words.
What do to with background paint left over on your pallet - put it in a journal to start more background pages. :)

Since I took a color theory class a few years ago with Jacqueline Newbold, I am getting better results with coloring. I love to make color wheels!
When I get new coloring supplies, I create a little chart with the colors of the color wheel. In Jacqueline's class she recommended numbering your color wheel, along with names, l which I have found works really well. I put the number on everything - the tubes, bottles, markers, etc.... I'm continuing to learn about color and am enjoying every moment. This cover is just the beginning... I'll share more pages with color as I finish them!
This will be a home made journal using a punch and discs for the "binding." The page cover is a piece of glossy 12x12 cardstock to size and painted with a thin layer of gesso. I Circa supplies and also the Arc System from Staples. I've been using the Circa system for years in my day job - those office supplies just cross right over to art/craft supplies. :) The pages are 90lb and 140 hot pressed watercolor paper.

I just love drawing and doodling.
I like to take notes just so I can draw around them. I must have 4 brands of different color pens on my desk at work. Before I go to a meeting, I have to pick just the right color - sometimes I take two colors and a highlighter. :) I had fun drawing this stylish woman with lots of colors and positive words around her.
Shout Out: 'doodle' style inspired by Joanne Sharpe's Radiant Faces lesson. Her outfit was inspired by stylish pictures on Pinterest.

Can you tell I've been listening to Stevie Wonder? :)
When I cannot think of words to use to add some writing in my art, I turn to Stevie. I drew and colored her in a journal I hand 'made.'
Shout Out: I dig Aaron Reed's style! I saw his artwork in person a couple years ago and was just blown away by the colors and depth of his artwork. Her pose was inspired by one of his paintings.

Look at these lovely, rich colors!
They are the new AquaBlend Artist's Watercolour Pencils by Spectrum Noir. I was so excited to receive them this week. Whenever I get new coloring supplies, I make a color chart and a color wheel (stencilgirl stencil). :) I can see the true colors and have a reference.
I colored these adorable images from Art Impressions - one of my favorite sources for rubber! I really dig the way the pencils blend smoothly - no lines. I colored direct to Watercolour Cardstock and spread color with a damp brush. I also colored indirect - touched a damp brush to the pencils and pulled color.
