I decorated these two journals for a couple here in the USA who are adopting a baby from India. They will be traveling to India this fall to pick him up. I thought they each could take their own journal to capture their thoughts, anticipation, excitement and feelings on their journey - all the emotions that come with becoming a parent.
I laid gesso down first through the large stencils on the black background so the colors would pop. I used enough gesso so it would spread just beyond the design. Next I added color using very little paint or ink so the design would be more crisp. To add detail, I used small design stencils, drew some designs and also used stamps.
I just love making personal gifts - something unique and meaningful for the recipient!
