OK!! Here's the card I showed earlier this month and said that I would post the directions later. It's later!! :o) This pot image is so versatile! I decided to put fresh cut flowers in it, fresh cut painted flowers that is.:o). I stamped the pot on a variety of backgrounds that I had previously created. When doing the polished stone and shaving cream techniques, I create several designs in one setting.
This base card is 4 1/2" x 6".
- To create the polished stone background with die ink re-inkers, saturate a large cotton ball with
alcohol (very moist, not dripping). Squeeze three drops of each colored re-inker onto the cotton ball randomly. Squeeze two drops of the gold re-inker, apart from each other. Dab the cotton ball randomly around the glossy card stock. The alcohol makes the ink spread. If there’s too much ink in one spot, dab over the spot again to spread the ink. Dab over areas until you get the effect you want. Tip: Because a little goes a long way, use at least a 5 ½” x 8 ½” sheet of card stock at a time. If you dab too much, you’ll get a big blob.
- When using water based metallic inks with this technique, a fixative is needed to set the ink completely. Spray a fixative lightly over the cardstock. Allow several minutes to dry.
- To create a shaving cream background, spray shaving cream into a shallow pan. I used a 6" x 8" pan. Drop 6 -8 dots of ink randomly. Repeat for at least two more colors. With a knife or spatula, lightly make swirl cuts through the shaving cream pulling ink around the pan. Be carefull not to over mix. Lay a piece of mat card stock into the shaving cream. Pat down lightly. Pick up the card stock by the edge. With a spatula, or straight edge, scrap excess shaving cream onto a paper plate or directly into the sink. Set card stock aside to dry. Repeat with more pieces of card stock. You can add more drops of ink if you want. Discard all shaving cream when finished.
- With the finished backgrounds, you are now ready to stamp your vase. Lightly run anti-static bag over the lovely background you've created.
- Ink up the pot image with gold ink, stamp on card stock. Sprinkle with emboss powder and heat set. Repeat for any other backgrounds you have.
- Cut out images.
- To create the fresh flowers use white card stock. Pick up two colors with paintbrush - called double loading the brush. Paint
each pedal of the flower. Paint several flowers in different colors. To create the centers, dip the end of the paintbrush into paint and make several small dots.
- Next, pick up different green paints and paint several leaves.
- Use dimensional paint to draw an outline around pedals and leaves.
- Allow all to dry.
- Cut out flowers and leaves.
- I picked a shaving cream design for this card.
- Before adhering flowers and leaves to card, arrange flowers and leaves in a layout that you like. Take a photo so you remember the layout. :o)
- Adhere flowers and leaves to black card stock. Use dimensional adhesive to pop some of the flowers.
- Adhere layers onto base card.
