I had two classes today - oh my!! My day started in Kent'sLet Yourself Go class. I had a huge growth spurt - both in technique and approach. I love the way Kent teaches, shares and inspires! I enjoyed the whole process. The pieces I worked on are in different stages of progress - and I'm ok with that. :) IT IS all about the journey - the discovery as I move forward on each piece, through all the different stages - including the ugly ones. As I complete them, I'll share.
I hung out with MaryBeth in the evening. We used stencils, of course, to create our own design papers and make small art boards. It was fun and my fingers are still quite colorful.
I spent today with Helen Shaffer Garcia , my stampin' sister Marge, and a room full of lovely, fun artists! I learned some new ways to draw, and use my watercolors & pencils together, and I had a good time with dripping. I always enjoy Helen's classes!!
Wow! Another fantastic class! Now, this one was not about making art, it was about selling your art. Excellent, candid information from Kent Youngstrom! I have no photos to share today - I do have several pages of notes. :) I am taking Kent's Let Yourself Go class on Saturday which I'm sure will help me take my artwork to whole new level! I'll share photos!
I love the way she explained her methods to us, then encouraged us to follow our own creative direction. We started with some creative writing which gets you in the mood for getting color on the page. Along the way she shared some great tips. I took lots of notes. This was the first time I've every really done collage. I've bought the supplies, including tons of lovely napkins, but the first time I really did it! Now I know what to do with them. Hmmmmm, now, where did I put those napkins?...
I'm hanging out with my Gelli Plate today making splashes of color with tape! After watching a couple videos on this technique, I jumped in.
First, I saved some white space with punch shapes and cut strips of scrap cardstock. Picked out a couple colors and brayered paint over the plate. Removed paper pieces and allowed to dry completely. I started out on my 6" Gelli, them moved up to my 8 x 10".
Stamped in some text, allowed to dry completely. NOTE: I cleaned my stamps right away so the paint would not dry on them.
Added some design elements with various items (items shown in photo). NOTE: I'll be saving my paint papers and cutting out pieces for the design paper I create. :)
After laying down tape and pulling, sprinkled mica powder on sticky side. I saved this step for last and did all the pieces at the same time, working one mica color at a time. NOTE: When you pull, you may find some paint left on the plate. You can easily pick it up with clean tape. I apologize the photo is not clear - all that bling and shine did not agree with my camera and work area lighting.
Below are close ups. You'll notice that depending on which mica color you use, you will get a different look. I like them all! :)
